Nicholls is returning to Wates Residential, having previously left his position as Managing Director in 2021 to establish Real Construction Group. Real was formed after the acquisition of Rydon Construction’s businesses in the South East and South West.
At the time of its launch, Nicholls set an ambitious turnover target of £300 million for the new company. However, Real Construction went into administration late last year, owing over £7 million to suppliers and subcontractors.
Nicholls will take up his new role in February and will report to Phillippa (Pip) Prongué, who begins as Executive Managing Director in January. Prongué is succeeding Helen Bunch, who will retire in early 2025
Nicholls replaces Nick Williams, who is retiring after a 40-year career in the industry.
