Companies House identity verification: prepare before the filing deadline

What happened
Companies House identity verification became a legal requirement from 18 November 2025. GOV.UK says this began a 12-month transition period rather than creating one universal deadline: directors and PSCs must verify by the dates that apply to them. Verification can be completed through GOV.UK One Login where eligible, or through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP).
Why it matters
Leaving preparation until a filing or appointment is due can turn a manageable compliance step into a delay. Directors and PSCs may need suitable identity documents, a current address and their own GOV.UK One Login; a single email address cannot be used by more than one person to verify an identity. A clear register of who needs to act reduces the risk of avoidable last-minute gaps.
